GOALS
"Italian Journal of Linguistics/Rivista di Linguistica" addresses all relevant aspects of linguistics, broadly construed, comparing different schools and methods.  It seeks to bridge the gap between descriptive and theoretical research, welcoming work which makes complex language data accessible to those unfamiliar with the language or language area under study, as well as work which makes complex theoretical positions more accessible to those working outside that theoretical framework. In particular, by often hosting thematic issues, the journal provides a forum for the discussion of specific topics from a variety of points of view. The journal appears twice a year. In addition to research-articles, it hosts review-articles, i.e. pieces that blend the aims of a review with those of an article, often surveying more than one important book on a related theme, or giving a detailed assessment of a single major work, thus providing an overview of a subfield of particular interest. Normal reviews, by contrast, are not considered in the current editorial policy. The main language of the journal is English; contributions in French, German, Spanish and Italian are accepted provided the subject of the paper justifies this choice.

PROFESSIONAL and ETHICAL ISSUES

* Anonymity
The journal prefers double-blind reviewing, whereby the author(s) identity is unknown to the outside reader and the reader's identity is not revealed to the author(s). It is, however, up to the author(s) to conceal their identities. The reviewers are encouraged to preserve anonymity; their identity is revealed only when a reviewer so requests. To protect anonymity, authors should submit .pdf files rather than Word or Word Perfect files, where their identity can be easily uncovered.
* Conflicts
The board avoids engaging readers who are close to, or have any sort conflicts with, an author. In particular, the board avoids situations where theoretical differences would yield a rejection. Occasional suggestions by an author not to be evaluated by a specific scholar are taken into consideration. Reviewers must be open-minded towards theoretical frameworks which differ from their own.
* Multiple submission
Manuscripts under review elsewhere cannot be considered for publication. Since no paper gets published without significant revision, earlier dissemination in conference proceedings or working papers does not preclude consideration for publication, but author(s) are expected to fully disclose any closely-related publications, so that the overlap can be evaluated by the editor.
* Co-authorship
Each author is required to declare his or her individual contribution to the article. All
authors must have materially participated in the research and/or article preparation: the respective roles for all authors should be described. The statement that all authors have approved the final article should be included in the disclosure.
